Kairos Prison Ministry

By sharing the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, Kairos hopes to change hearts, transform lives and impact the world.

Kairos Prison Ministry is a non-denominational international ministry reaching many who are incarcerated. Here locally, the program is at Albion (women) and Wende (men) Correctional Facilities. The program brings the love of Jesus to many who are feeling unloved.

The Kairos programs take the participants on a journey that demonstrates the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. Kairos Prison Ministry is Christian in nature, although no religious affiliation is necessary to be a participant.

Twice a year, we are able to spend two four-day weekends with a group of ladies and men, and then follow up with visits a couple of times a month. They learn to love themselves and others, forgive themselves and others, and be reminded that they are loved and forgiven by God. These are times of many laughs and tears, conversations and prayers, candy and snacks, to just "be."

If you are interested in this ministry, feel free to contact Sandy Houck, although, until we are able to go back inside, there isn't much that can be processed. Also, talk to Jim Hohensee about his experience with the ministry.

November 2024 Placemats

The placemats pictured below and many more placemats made at VBS were used by the Kairos Prison Ministry in prison on a weekend in November. The placemats are all set up at tables. When the incarcerated individuals see them, they usually don't eat on them to get food spilled on them. They absolutely love them and carefully take them back to their units to hang up and treasure. By the children putting their first names and ages on them, the recipients relate to their own children and grandchildren. It is amazing how God "places" just the right picture at all the right place settings.
