Turkeys Needed
Yes, that glorious season is upon us, and we want to share it with those in need in a tangible and delicious way! We will be preparing two, yes, two, Thanksgiving dinners this year at our sister churches, Seneca Street UMC, and, of course, for our friends in Niagara Falls at First UMC during our Thursday night dinner! We are also joining forces with St. John’s Food Pantry in Niagara Falls to distribute turkeys and other side dishes for folks to cook for themselves and their families. We really need your support to make all this happen! First of all, we’ll need turkeys! We’re going to need approximately 70 turkeys! If anyone can help with this, please bring in turkeys (about 16 lbs each is best) and put them in the designated freezer, which will be clearly marked in the Fellowship Hall coat room! We’ll need these as soon as you can because the dates of these events and thaw times for the turkeys have to be taken into consideration! This is a tremendous undertaking, but we’re so sure that with God’s help and yours, we’ll get all we need!!
We’re also looking for items to serve with our turkeys: 5lb bags of potatoes, canned sweet potato, canned vegetables (your choice), jars/cans of gravy, boxed stuffing, and cans of cranberry sauce. If you are able to supply any or all of these items, we would greatly appreciate it! If you would rather donate funds of any amount so we could get supplies, this is also a great way to help!
Lastly, we’re looking for helpers who can help prepare these dinners! We’d be happy to have folks of any skill level join us for the cooking or serving! It’s a nice way to join in and share in the “giving back” when God has blessed us so much! We’re anticipating serving up to 500 of our neighbors with these wonderful events! Important dates: the Thursday night dinner Thanksgiving is on November 21. The Seneca Street Thanksgiving dinner will be on Sunday, November 24. Cooking schedules will be on and days just prior to these days. Please prayerfully consider how you can help!
